Charity Work

   Minimize

The school participates in a number of fundraising events for charity each year, some of these include:

  •  Team Hope ‘Christmas Shoe Box Appeal’. Our pupils demonstrate the true meaning of the Christmas spirit- sharing with those less fortunate than ourselves. This is one of the charities which the school donates to on an annual basis.  It is part of the holistic education provided to our pupils, where we emphasise the need to “think of others” especially in these difficult economic times
  •  St. Vincent de Paul: A group of our school musicians under the direction of Mrs. Farrell, busks in Fairgreen Shopping Centre each Christmas in aid of St. Vincent de Paul
  • The musicians also visit Hillview Nursing Home each Christmas, where they entertain the residents
  • St. Brigid’s Crosses:  Each year the senior pupils make St. Brigid’s crosses during the last week in January. These crosses are sold at the masses in Holy Family Church, Askea on the weekend of St. Brigid’s Day. The proceeds from the sale of the crosses are donated to various charities at home and abroad. We believe that it  is great to see the very old tradition of making crosses from rushes being passed on to the next generation
  • There is a tradition in the school where the First Communion and Confirmation pupils pledge a donation to people less well off than themselves
